Final Turn - Pastel

Finally got around to completing this painting.  Size is 16 x 20 inches, pastel on board.  Had fun using alcohol wash to create the diffused background.  And splattered the pastel in the dusty foreground by dipping brush in alcohol and rubbing on pastel stick, then splaying bristles and splattering (like watercolor painters would do).  This is 100% pastel, no watercolor underpainting or anything.

I still am wanting to complete one or two more rodeo scenes next.

As with my last couple rodeo  paintings, I need to give a shout out to Howard for letting me use some of his great rodeo photos for references.  Thanks Howard.

  3. Wow, Ron...this is great! Brings back memories of my barrel riding days (although I had to wear catcher's shin guards cause Dillon would cut too sharp and bang my legs on the barrel) :)
